Getting Beachy at Brighton

My LISA and I decided to take a last minute trip to Brighton Beach after work
and had an amazing night! I picked up my Little Lancome beach bag, Zacs "Bah-Patch" and hopped on the B to Brighton.
Here are  few cool pics with My Lisa, Zac and I!

Moment.Of.Truth.

At times, we may find ourselves slightly perplexed- caught off guard when our special someone has a change of heart or, dear friends realize they aren't able to live up to our expectations... leaving us to pick up the pieces on our own. Looking to other people for a solution or hoping for a word of encouragement may not always be the medicine for the situation. At some point, we've gotta open our eyes, look into the mirror and decide for ourselves, we can do it on our own...

Definitely speaking to myself on this one...

Backpacking+ with the Boys!

Accessories for boys can be one of the toughest things to come by.
Sometimes as parents, we'll spend the entire day hopping from store to store praying we'll find that one perfect thing for our guys to wear; meanwhile, the Mom over on the opposite side of the store happily skips to the cashier with her cute girly bows and bandanas.
One thing I've been lucky enough to learn is that, our guys know what they like. Give them an opportunity to play around and get a feel for what they want. Maybe on a shopping trip, grab a hat. Try it on. They'll tell you if they think its hot or not.

I've been lucky enough to have the coolest guy around! Zac would GLADLY inform me if he's not digging his look. For the first few months, my family and I realized he had a fascination with watches. He'd just stare and drool just a little more than usual when his God-Father passed by... eyes fixated on the watch alone. The moment he turned 1 1/2, I figured it was time I tried it out. Since then, it's become a staple in his every day look.
Not to mention the signature Messenger cap, Bow Tie, Neck Tie just to add a few are his go-to pieces.
More recently, Zac has fallen in love with "The Back Pack" (or as he would say, "Bah-Patch"). Oh boy, we couldnt DARE leave without it. While we were shopping for his Daddy Sponsored birthday threads, we stumbled across a football backpack at The Children's Place
From then on, the two haven't parted ways.
It's a great way to give them a start of independence if they haven't started Day Care already. Not to mention, it takes a load off the purse and the baby bag.
A smooth step out of baby days and into Toddler-ism.

Here are a few Highlights of cute looks I've stumbled across from Toddler Boys

AfroPunk 2012: "I stand behind it. I GUARANTEE it".

Who can resist the awesomeness of the
AfroPunk Festival?
Every year since 2008, I've been lucky enough to enjoy the rawness and excitement of great black artists. Whether it be great musicians, skaters, or painters, each year AfroPunk has something new to offer. At Commodore Park, wonderful people put together this "great engagement" where you'll get to whitness BMX Rider contests, Live performances from both renowned, Independent, and basement bands, Graf artists and designers; all uniting for two whole days.
Unfortunately last year, Brooklyn missed out on all the fun thanks to Hurricane Irene. This year, we have tons to look forward to.  Best of all,
ITS FREE!

I created a horribly made video my 2nd year of attending AfroPunk (2009).
As a treat (and potential embarrassment to myself), I've posted it here on MommeNYC

This Mom DOES Instagram

Instagram is officially the next best thing since sliced bread in the world of social network. Although most of us would deny our FIRST high school online entertainment (no, not aim.com); between the years of 2000 and 2005, Sconex was THE after-school spot. RAISE YOUR HAND IF YOU HAD A SCONEX ACCOUNT?! Adding "friends" we know we'd never usually speak to, realizing in class the next day, such and such have "Sconex beef". But, not too far ahead, we'd see Socnex fall off and MySpace and Facebook going at it for the spotlight.

After getting bored with our 159,000 MySpace buddies and annoyed by Whats Her Face's embarrassing relationship updates, we took to Twitter. But for the BEST hashtag- #TeamIphone, the world seemed brighter. Photoshop on a phone? Who knew a trip to Starbucks could be so beautiful?! With Instagram, our lives looked that much more amazing than we knew it really was. Now, unfortunately for some of you, I am THE ULTIMATE ANDROID HATER and, Instagram has been poisoned by such misfortunes. Whatever happened to cell phone inequality?

Either way, with Instagram in the picture, I can honestly say I look for reasons to find more beautiful, more entertainment throughout my day. It has a little bit of juice and gossip, some humor and comedy, and a lot of beauty. I try my best to update pictures daily but instead, find myself being more entertained by those I follow.
Great Filters, Great Effects. Great Entertainment. This is what life could look like.

Chipmunks 2nd Birthday!

My Zac. The love of my life. The Apple to my Sauce. The "I" to my "Phone". You've gottta love this guy. Yesterday he turned TWO! Its been a pretty exhausting day. Between finding well-priced clothes off Union Square and trying not to die of dehydration in 90 degree weather, we had a lot going on. Zac made a few friends and had fun with his family.

Here are a few pics for proof!

Zac's Super Stylish Grandmother got him these pants for 10 bucks at H&M  Zac's Cool Red Pants

We were lucky enough to find his entire outfit at The Gap which had 40% off sale!

His new backpack (which he loves) comes from The Children's Place who also has 20% off school gear

These shoes Are the cutest! I fell in love with them on ChildrensPlace.com & Zac's Dad got em!Cute Sneakers

A Bit About Me

Most people know me for my sense of humor, outspokenness, high-energy, and most importantly, my son Zachary (otherwise known as Zac). From the day he was born, my life changed. It became a little more exciting. A little more interesting. Instead of using make-up or having cute shoes or a wearing a great hair cut, I have the cutest, most liveliest accessory in this guy (but I'll address his coolness in the following issue)
I'm a Visual Merchandiser at The Gap so, I have a lot of fun meeting new people, styling them and their families and just making things look beautiful. You'll be able to see some of the work my Brand team and I have done. I've been lucky enough to work at many different stores within the East Coast, met tons of great people in the midst of it.

There are a lot of interesting characters in my life. My VERY West Indian-American mother, my perfectly HILARIOUS older sister, a few eccentric and unusual friends you may get to know and love as well. Throughout my journal, I hope you're able to use us as a reference for fashion from real life people. With real incomes. And real responsibilities. :)
